Microsoft might be partnering up with #1 carrier in India, Airtel, to push the recently launched Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL and yet-to-be launched Lumia 550. Both these phones, along with Lumia 550, are 4G-enabled. Lumia 550, however, supports only one 4G band (1800 MHz).
According to an article by Economic Times, Microsoft may be planning to bundle Airtel 4G data packs with the new Lumias. This strategy might work as Airtel 4G has been getting a lot of attention in media.
According to a statement given by Ajey Mehta, country head, mobile devices, Microsoft India:
“Microsoft India is keen to partner with Bharti Airtel for a 4G data-bundling pact, wherein their customers may be able to double their data packs for free on purchasing our Windows 10 Lumia 4G devices such as the 950, 950 XL and the soon-to-launched Lumia 550,”
